A Letter from Rev.
Joseph K. Kalladan, Pastor
Sunday Bulletin - November 27,
2007
Dear Parishioner,
By now, many of you may have heard the good news that St.
Thomas Aquinas Church is installing Carillon Electronic
Bells thanks to the generosity of Carlos and Marilou Sagullo.
We have the top of the line electronic bell system with many
features, which can be programmed according to the needs of
the church. Besides playing the 'Angelus' during the
ordinary time and 'Regina Coeli' during the Easter Season,
we have the optional key board too that has been added which
our musicians can play through the four speakers mounted on
the church tower. Many churches, especially older ones, do
have the bells, the chiming of which remind people about the
house of God. As the Psalmist says, “Let us make a joyful
noise to the Lord". Yes, when we hear these bells chime
their melodious musical notes, let us lift our minds and
hearts to the Lord, reminding us of the Lord's call to raise
our hearts and minds to the Heavens above. Many of the
parishioners, on hearing about these chiming bells for STA,
were truly excited on having this added feature for their
Church. I think it is very appropriate that these bells will
first ring out at 3:00 pm on Sunday, Dec. 2nd, the Hour when
Our Divine Savior died. He has thereby sanctified that hour
which the devotees of Divine Mercy consider as the HOUR OF
MERCY.
STA Parish wishes to thank our generous donors, the Sagullo
family, for their great generosity and love for their
Church. In fact, how could our Parish of St. Thomas Aquinas
exist without the overwhelming generosity of so many of you
parishioners past and present who have and are dedicating
and sacrificing their God-given gifts, resources and time?
Recently, your church received a couple of donations from
stocks and bonds which some of our dear parishioners have
designated to be sent to their church. Margaret Cook of
revered memory and who went to the Lord not too long ago,
has left to her dear parish, St. Thomas Aquinas, a portion
of her estate.
Dear Parishioners, the needs of your church are many. There
are so many things that need to be done if we have the
resources for it. First of all, we need to reduce our debt
so that we do not have to pay monthly so much on interests
alone. We need to develop our newly acquired land for the
needs of the parish, especially additional entrance and
exits. So many of you have come up with such wonderful ideas
for the use of the new property. I am asking every one of
you to take responsibility and commit to do what you can. I
would really like to see a significant increase in our
weekly collection. So many of you get away with throwing one
dollar into the collection basket. (If that is all what you
can really afford – then we have to live with it). But is
that the case with so many of you? May I ask you to consider
in the Lord, how much you can afford to give to your church.
Once you have made your decision, would you consider tithing
to support your church on a regular basis? Remember, “God
loves a cheerful giver".
Let me thank so many of you who are giving or tithing as the
good steward of the Lord. As your pastor, I am appealing to
your generous spirit.
May the Lord bless you and your family abundantly with His
many Graces.
Fr. K.K.
