A Letter from Rev. Joseph K. Kalladan, Pastor

Sunday Bulletin - March 2, 2008

Dear Parishioner,

I had the opportunity to be at the meeting of the "BUILDING AND GROUNDS COMMITTEE" which was originally known as the Property Management Committee. The members of this committee chose its present name which, they thought, could better reflect what it has been envisioned to be in the parish. I was truly amazed at the commitment of its members to maintain, repair, and beautify the buildings and the grounds of our church. They are planning to make a comprehensive list of all the repairs and anything that needs to be fixed here. They hope to prioritize all that needs to be done and to complete them in a timely manner.

Some of the concerns that were raised at the Committee Meeting were:

1: Only a few parishioners are involved in doing the work and it is the same few that do all the work. There is so much that needs to be done. They need more parishioners to be part of the work force. STA is blessed with many able bodied men and women who have their own particular talents and capabilities to assist with the various needs of the repair, maintenance, and up-keep of our buildings and grounds. We need you.

2: One concern that every one in the Committee expressed was that there are no WOMEN in this Committee. The Church in the U.S. survives today due to the overwhelming involvement and participation of our women. They bring very special gifts and insights which God has specially gifted them with. Hence, our dear women of the STA are requested to actively participate in the Building and Grounds Projects.

3: In order to make a comprehensive list everyone in the parish is requested to contact either Gerard van Deursen (281-240-0549) or Dick Leiker (281-491-3506) or the parish office if you find anything that needs to be attended to, fixed, or repaired. This would assist the Committee to make the comprehensive list of projects to work on.

4: The Building and Grounds Committee will be announcing the next Parish Work Day. Please plan to participate. More details will be given in due time.

Dear Parishioner, please do take pride in seeing your parish buildings and grounds in top shape. This is your Church and you need to be personally involved. Your parish cannot afford to get paid professionals to do all the work. It is cost prohibitive and we just can't afford it. We have to use them only when necessary. The rest is left for us to do. Would you, or could you, help your Church?  STA Parish is deeply grateful for the men who are presently very involved in this needed area. They need your help.

We should all be proud of all the wonderful things that are going on in the parish with so many dedicated people of God. Let us all work together to make STA the best ever.

Fr. K.K.
