A Letter from Rev. Joseph K. Kalladan, Pastor

Sunday Bulletin - February 17, 2008

Dear Parishioner,

It was exciting to witness our Catechumens and Candidates for the Sacraments go for the Rite of Election to the Bishop last Sunday afternoon at Epiphany of the Lord Parish in Katy. The Rite of Sending them for this special Rite from our Parish Community was certainly a touching experience for them as well as for us since we see them taking a step forward in their journey of Faith as they are approaching the Easter Sacraments. I had the great opportunity to meet personally with each of them and to experience their great progress in their relationship with the Lord and growth in their Catholic Faith. “I’m different now from where I started in the RCIA Process”, every one of them attested in different words, “and people do see me as different, in my attitudes, values, etc.”

“What makes all this difference?” one might ask.

Well, there is only one answer: “It is their openness to the Lord”. Yes, it is their decision to let the Lord lead and guide their lives that makes all the difference.

Don’t we know what Jesus has told us so emphatically and so clearly: “Come to Me all you who labor and are burdened, and I will refresh you?” He has kept His word ever since He uttered those memorable words down through the centuries. He continues to do so in our own times. Our Catechumens (they are now ‘the Elect of God’) and our Candidates are standing proof of what Jesus has stated.

We are in the holy season of Lent when we are reminded to focus more exclusively on the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Christ Jesus. The question is whether or not we are taking advantage of this special season that the Church is offering us. Your Parish offers many Lenten opportunities for this.

Let us, brothers and sisters, open ourselves to our Loving Lord and allow Him to bring about a true transformation in our lives, in our attitudes towards our neighbor, in our Christian values. In short, let us as followers of Him who suffered and died for us on the cross and who rose from the dead, try to live a true  life becoming as His Followers.

Wish you a HAPPY LENT.

Fr. K.K.
